Wine is one of the oldest and most popular traditions of Italy and Umbria and Tuscany are world famous for the production of fine wines like Chianti, Sagrantino and many more.
Day 1: Montalcino
Day 2: Val d'Orcia area
Day 3: Val d'Orcia area and San Quirico d'Orcia

Day 1: MONTALCINO
Arrival in Tuscany / MONTALCINO, in the very heart of Val D’Orcia. Welcome drink to get acquainted with the little town and local people. Day at leisure for relaxing and to discover Montalcino.
Day 2: VAL D'ORCIA AREA
Today we will explore the Brunello of MONTALCINO area, in Val D’Orcia. Val d’Orcia stretches to the south of Siena, at the foot of an extinct volcano Monte Amiata is a land of dream for every enthusiast of photography and one of the most popular region in Europe for hiking and for wine lovers. It comes from here majority of famous views printed on postcards.
We will begin our tour from Abbey of Sant’Antimo, that is one of the most beautiful architectural jewels in Romanesque style that is still standing today.
Located downhill of Montalcino, it is an old abbey that has been inhabited by Benedictine monks for centuries. It is said to have been founded in the 9th century at the time of the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne, who is credited with founding the chapel – known as the Carolingian Chapel.
The visit ends in the Pharmacy set up in the ancient treasure room where it is possible to buy food, products made according to the recipes of the centuries-old monastic herbal tradition: honey, fruit jams, candies and herbal teas.
On the way back to Montalcino we will visit the vineyards and the wine cellar of a traditional Wine estate where we will aslo the famous Brunello red wine.
In the afternoon we visit another wine estate for a second wine tasting.
Day 3: VAL D'ORCIA AREA and SAN QUIRICO D'ORCIA
Second day in Val d’Orcia is dedicated to SAN QUIRICO D’ORCIA, a nice tiny village on a tophill overlooking the Val d’Orcia along the Francigena Way.
San Quirico has a nice promenade in the very center of the old town and from here we will get on foot with a hiking guide to BAGNO VIGNONI, a medieval thermal little town where we can see a thermal “pool” in the main square.
It is a charming place where relaxing and discovering old traditions.
Day 4: CHIANTI AREA
Today we will explore the Chianti area including some little villages that are famous all over the world for the production of the CHIANTI wine.
First stop will visit Greve in Chianti where on Saturday the famous traditional market takes place. After we will visit the castle that belongs to the family of the famous navigator Giovanni da Verrazzano whom is dedicated the bridge that connects Brooklyn to Staten Island in NY.
Here we will visit the garden and the old wine cellar. We will also have a very rich tasting of 4 wines with ham, salame, bruschetta, cantucci and much more.
Time to enjoy the enchanting atmosphere of this corner of Tuscany, sweet and charming.
Day 5: PIENZA
Today an new destination rich in culture and food, PIENZA.
First visit yo the amazing pope palace and to the cathedral with the stunning view over Val d’Orcia.
For the lunch we will visit a typical farm just off Pienza where the local pecorino cheese is produced.
Lunch with handmade cheese, typical products and local wine in the trattoria with a fantastic and romantic view on tuscan rolling hills.
Day 6: From PIENZA to MONTEFALCO
Goodbye Tuscany! We are now off to Umbria! Arrival in MONTEFALCO area and accommodation in your hotel inside a wine estate!
We are now in the world famous Sagrantino Wine Road, one of the most popular of italian wine roads! It connects Montefalco, Bevagna and other tiny castles of central Umbria.
First stop is in Bevagna to enjoy its amazing historical centre dotted with medieval workshops.
On the way to Montefalco stop in a traditional wine cellar for tasting the best Sagrantino wine, both dry and sweet.
It is also possible to have a picnic for the lunch including wine in the park of wine estate on the hills of Montefalco.
Day 7: ORVIETO
A new day to discover the very best of Umbria. To end this journey in the best way today it is time to visit ORVIETO.
We will dedicate the morning to the cathedral and the historical center including the Saint Patrick’s well.
Our lunch will be in a wonderful private estate were local white and also red wines are produced. This estate is really one of the best of the region and the guide will take you first to the barrique area and than to the cellar for your 4 courses and 4 wines typical lunch!
Day 8: ORVIETO
Departure from Hotel according to flight schedule.
