Day 1: PERUGIA
Arrival in PERUGIA and check-in in your hotel! Time at your leisure for visiting the town or its surroundings, including the beautiful hills facing the historical center of Perugia!
The capital town of Umbria is a cosmopolitan and multiethnic city preserving wonderful monuments dating back to Etruscan and medieval time.
Many events take place in town all through the year, dedicated to art, music, chocolate, wine, food and much more!
Day 2: PERUGIA
In the morning car delivery in your hotel, or close by! Now you will have your own Fiat 500 for starting your journey in Umbria!
There are a lot of beautiful places to discover and new experiences to live in the very green heart of Italy! Day at your leisure!
Day 3: from PERUGIA to CITTA' DELLA PIEVE
After breakfast departure with your Fiat 500 to CITTA' DELLA PIEVE(km 70).
During your trip you will stop by Lago Trasimeno, in PASSIGNANO, for enjoying the fresh breeze of the lake and for a short walk in this old fishermen’s village. Lake Trasimeno is the biggest lake in peninsular Italy and has 3 small little unspoiled islands.
It is possible to practice many sporting activities on the lake like sailing, kite surfing, fishing with real fishermen, paddle, hiking but just walking around in the nice tiny hamlets on the cost is really exciting! In one of the nice hamlets around the lake you will have the chance of tasting the local lake fish prepared with ancient tasteful recipes! Delicious!
The lunch will be also an itinerary into a world of natural flavors, fragrances, taste and history! After lunch, you will continue your journey around the lake as far as Città della Pieve, hometown to one of the most famous painters of Italian Renaissance, Pietro Vannucci called Perugino.
Accommodation in your hotel. Time for visiting the old town famous for its narrow winding roads and the houses made of red bricks.
Many traditional saffron workshops and wineries are to be found out in the winding narrow roads of the town!
Day 4: from CITTA' DELLA PIEVE to ORVIETO
Departure with your Fiat 500 to ORVIETO (50 km), the Etruscan town on the cliff, world famous for its astonishing cathedral!
On your way to Orvieto from Città della Pieve we suggest you to stop in “La Scarzuola”, a franciscan convent founded by Saint Francis of Assisi in 1218, bought and restored in 1956 by milan architect Buzzi who planned and erected here his own ideal city, envisaged as a theatrical machine including 7 theatres and much more.
In the afternoon you will visit one of the most famous wine estate of the area including wine tasting. Spare time in Orvieto for visiting the Duomo and even the Etruscan Necropolis.
Day 5: from ORVIETO to SPOLETO
Departure to SPOLETO (km 80). Driving along the Corbara Lake, a lake generated by a dam on the river Tiber, you will make a stop for visiting TODI, a gem of Umbria, nestled on smooth rolling hills that dates back to the medieval age.
What a special atmosphere in this very trendy town! Leaving from Todi and driving across the Martani Mounts you will finally get to Spoleto.
Accommodation in your Hotel. Now you will have your time for a nice walk into the old town including the Ponte delle Torri and the Cathedral!
Many nice and fancy restaurants will offer you a special experience for your dinner tonight in this elegant town famous for opera, classic music and ballet shows!
Day 6: SPOLETO
Today you will take your car for a special excursion to the mountains above Spoleto where you will meet our guide for a really great experience: truffles hunt with dogs!
You will have the chance of having a nice walk on beautiful panoramic mountains while searching truffles with local truffles hunters and their dogs.
Later you will have a show cooking and finally a delicious lunch with a lot of truffles! This is really a great experience that you will never forget! Overnight in Spoleto.
Day 7: From SPOLETO to ASSISI
Departure to ASSISI (km 60). Take your time for driving slowly along the smooth hills of Umbria on the Sagrantino wine roads.
We suggest you a stop in BEVAGNA and in MONTEFALCO but if you have time enough don’t miss Castel Ritaldi or Gualdo Cattaneo. This area is crowded of many important wineries; one of the most exciting is an architectural wonderful masterpiece, the Carapace of the Castelbuono wine estate, fruit of the genius mind of a big artist, Arnaldo Pomodoro.
Wine tasting inside of the “Turtle” with delicious red Sagrantino, the wine that made Umbria famous all over the world! Arrival in Assisi and check in! Time for visiting the town.
Finally you will admire the amazing frescos of Giotto in the Upper basilica of Saint Francis, finally you will discover the precious secrets hidden in the lower basilica and finally you will walk slowly on these roads with more than 2000 years of history, Human heritage of Unesco.
Enjoy the unique atmosphere of this eternal city that at sunset becomes entirely pink, thanks to the stone with which the old houses are built!
