Day 1: ASSISI

Arrival in ASSISI and accommodation in your Hotel in the center of the old town.  In hotel you will find a package including the itinerary description and the road book, itinerary maps, a small guide, assistance number, GPS Tracks to be downloaded in the iPhone/Android phone and Garmin. Time at leisure for visiting the wonderful Cathedral dedicated to Saint Francis and its Giotto’s frescos!

Day 2: from ASSISI to SPELLO

Departure for your first hike along the historical way of Saint Francis, the road he used to walk to visit the Pope in Rome. Now it is a very popular trail for discovering the beauty of Umbria countryside and many artistic treasures. In Spello you will have many attractions to visit including the Santa Maria Maggiore paintings of Pintoricchio.  From Assisi to Spello we have 2 options. First one is the most challenging path as far as the top of Subasio Mount; the 2° one is an easier trail, less challenging but with beautiful landscapes as well.

Day 3: from SPELLO to BEVAGNA

After breakfast you will leave from Spello to get to the wonderful roman and medieval  town of Bevagna, also famous as  one the wine cities as it is situated along the Sagrantino Wine Road. Arrival in town and wine snack in a nice place in the center. Time for visiting the roman mosaics and the beautiful square.

Day 4: from BEVAGNA to TREVI

Wonderful hike along the Sagrantino Wine Road as far as MONTEFALCO, a magic hamlet overlooking the valley and its vineyards. Here there is time for a break in a typical wine estate including wine tasting and snack. Later you will proceed as far as Trevi, the town of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Trevi is plunged in a sea of olive groves and has a fantastic view over the hills and the valley.  Gourmet dinner in a restaurant in the center of the town with truffles, olive oil and local delicacies.

Day 5: from TREVI to PORETA / CAMPELLO

Hike along the olive groves trails for discovering old castles, nice hamlets  and the silence of this smooth hills covered with centuries old olive trees! We suggest also a detour to Campello Alto (included in the GPS Tracks). Along the way, with a detour you can also visit the park of the springs of river Clitunno, chanted by Goethe and Byron!

Day 6: from CAMPELLO to SPOLETO

Another wonderful hike in Umbria Countryside. Leaving Campello you have 15km to  your final destination. The landscape is that of the Spoleto valley, which aroused Francesco's admiration. After Bazzano the climbs are over, and the downhill path through the woods begins. Once you reach the Castle of Eggi, you can dedicate a visit to the frescoes of Spagna kept in the Church of San Giovanni Battista. Do not miss the Church of San Salvatore, Unesco heritage, at the entrance of the city. Spoleto is an amazing town that dates back to the roman age;  dominated by the Albornoz fortress and the Ponte delle Torri it is an elegant and smart city very famous for the performing art festival that features many important artists from all over the world (opera, classic music, ballet and more) Arrival in your centrally located hotel and Dinner in a special restaurant with a gourmet menu!

Day 7: SPOLETO (urban trekking)

Final day for discovering the beauty of Spoleto, its monuments and for enjoying the great cuisine of this town; truffles, oil, meat, sausages and much more, including wines!
